The First Book in a Great Ride
This is an excellent YA novel that beckons the question, What If? What if a young girl really can communicate with animals? What if that young girl harbours a secret she is only just learning the terms of herself? What if she grows up and begins to change – to become something more?
Lisa Redfern’s first novel in the Haylee series, Haylee; Awakened Seed, is chock full of descriptive narrative that leads the reader into the life of a young girl whose experience of “otherness” is remarkable, but also relatable. After all, don’t we all feel a little different sometimes?
This is an excellent story for readers who enjoy fantasy, YA (young adult), and coming of age adventures.
